StreetSafes 'MicroBytes' provide vivid graphics and concise text to augment traditional structured lesson plans. learning is more accessible and memorable.
Who are our clients?
Our target market is young drivers. They represent a disproportionate number of injuries and deaths on Australian roads. We strive to reduce those numbers in our own small way.
What does our program look like?
We have developed the Safer Drivers for Life program to augment and improve on the standard programs on offer. Our program has four streams:-
1. Learning Preference Assessment
2. Core Driving Instruction Program - this includes RMS standard coverage plus Structured Lesson Plans and MicroBytes.
3. Simulated Test
1. The StreetSafe Learning Preference Assessment
Broadly speaking, people learn in one of four ways:
- Visual. A visually dominant learner absorbs and retains information best when presented in pictures and diagrams.
- Auditory. An auditory dominant learner prefers listening to what is presented.
- Kinesthetic. A kinesthetic learner prefers a physical experience and a 'hands on' approach.
- Audio Digital. An audio-digital learner prefers to memorise by creating learning steps, systems and procedures.
Our Learning Preference Assessment identifies the best approach for each student. We run this simple assessment before the program begins, and adjust the approach accordingly. This free assessment helps to determine the most effective learning method for each student.
2. The StreetSafe Core Driving Instruction Program - leave nothing to chance.
The core program consists of 20 lessons across four sections, and is tightly aligned to the material produced by the RMS, even down to the colour codes they use!
- Building a Foundation (7 lessons)
- Traffic Skills (4 lessons)
- Low Risk Driving (4 lessons)
- Building Experience (5 lessons)
Each lesson consists of :
- A Structured Lesson Plan
Each lesson plan describes the required environment, lesson prerequisites, required resources, instructional strategy, objectives, safety considerations, check of prior knowledge, conclusion and a test.
- MicroBytes Slideware
Rather than flood the trainee with training manuals, we offer this information in the form of MicroBytes Slideware. This summarises the most important parts of each lesson making use of concise text and graphics.
3. The StreetSafe Simulated Road Test
The Simulated Road Test emulates the actual RMS road test.
The student follows a route similar to the real test.
The instructor assesses the student’s driving and produces a report similar to that produced by the testing officer.
The benefits include:
- Reduction of test apprehension by exposing the student to a simulation of the test.
- Areas where the student may need more help are highlighted.
- A remediation plan may be created.
